MADRID (AP) — Real Madrid announced Monday that star forward Kylian Mbappé has injured his left hamstring, leaving him in doubt for the Spanish league’s Clasico in two weeks.
The club did not provide details on the extent of the injury or when Mbappe will return. The player’s recovery will depend on the progress of his injury.
Spanish media reported that the injury is not expected to keep the French star out of action for long.
Madrid will play Clasico against Barcelona on May 10th at the Camp Nou stadium. Madrid are 11 points behind their Catalan rivals with five games left in the season.
Mbappe was substituted in the 82nd minute of Friday’s 1-1 draw against Real Betis.
The French striker had already missed playing time this season due to a knee problem. The World Cup begins in June.
