This is very bad news for the Italian manager, who had expected the Chelsea star to be a regular on his final list. He is a player with a big difference, so there is a possibility of a big loss.

“According to sources close to the injury, Estevao has suffered a Grade 4 hamstring injury, meaning the 18-year-old is highly unlikely to feature in the World Cup. The tournament begins on June 11, with Brazil’s opening game against Morocco taking place two days later,” The Athletic reported. Estevao was injured last Saturday in Chelsea’s penultimate defeat against Manchester United, who were in crisis.
A medical test confirmed the symptoms.
The MRI scan Estevao underwent would have confirmed Ancelotti’s worst fears. Ancelotti witnessed one of his greatest talents leave the field with a noticeable limp at Stamford Bridge. “He was devastated and was crying at half-time,” Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confessed in the post-match press conference.
Estevao’s injury could affect Ancelotti and Neymar’s plans, but the issue remains floating and controversial within Brazil. If Estevao is sidelined due to injury, there will be a spot open in Brazil’s attack. It remains to be seen whether Santos will ultimately be selected, as manager Ancelotti resisted calling him up in the final friendly, despite growing pressure within Brazil to call him up.
