Tom Brady’s transition from an NFL icon to a football club executive has brought a whole new level of scrutiny and brutal integrity to the city of Birmingham. The seven-time Super Bowl champion journey as a minority owner is now located in the heart of Birmingham: Brady & The Blues is the new Amazon Prime Docuseries, which has hit the club’s past two seasons highs and lows.
Brady’s candid review of Blues’ 2023-24 campaign is uninterpreted. Looking back at the turbulent spell under former manager Wayne Rooney, Brady said in the series, “I’m a bit worried about the head coach’s (Rooney) work ethic. I mean, I don’t have a big instinct about it.”

Rooney was appointed shortly after the arrival of new Birmingham title in August 2023 and less than three months at St. Andrews.
During his brief tenure, Birmingham fell into a relegation battle from playoff hopefuls, winning only two games before Rooney was rejected. Even after a change in leadership, the club was unable to stop relegation to League One.

Brady doesn’t draw a punch to his ratings.
But for Brady, the problem went deeper than the manager. He booked his toughest words for the play team: “Well, we’ve already changed coaches, so the coaches don’t get out there and get into the goal, so it’s really a player,” he said.
“They are lazy, they are qualified, and when you are lazy and qualified, you don’t have much chance of success. I think there will be a lot of people out this summer because we have to change all the people associated with losing.”
That dull diagnosis marked a turning point. Birmingham City received a dramatic overhaul in the next offseason. Under new head coach Chris Davis, the Bruce held a dominant campaign in League One, bringing the title and automatic promotion back to the championship. It was also the season that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McKenny Lies owned by Welksam Coe along with them.
From League 1 champions to new ambitions
For Brady, last season’s title was just the beginning. With Birmingham returning to the championship, the focus shifts to winning the coveted spot in the Premier League. It’s a challenge to test whether the cultural change he requested will truly take hold.
Built in Billmingham: Brady & the Blues looks inside the fans at Brady’s approach, baring the standards and expectations they set for the club. With the NFL icon’s trademark competitiveness changing behind the scenes, Birmingham City will be viewed as closely as ever, as long as they aim for the biggest stage of English football.
