West Ham’s Lucas Paketa resolved spot fixed fees

West Ham Forward Lucas Paketa is permitted to spot corrections for the suspect after being accused of intentionally receiving a yellow card to affect the betting market.

The English Football Association confirmed Thursday that an independent panel found no proven charges.

“Lucas Paketa denied the charges against him and the Regulatory Commission discovered that they were not proven after the hearing,” the FA said in a statement.

The ruling concludes a long-term lawsuit against Brazil International, which was indicted in May 2024.

The FA had claimed it was intentionally hoping to be booked in four separate games against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth between November 2022 and August 2023.

The Blackstone Chambers, who represents Paqueta, said it is understood to be the longest case in FA history.

Paqueta was charged with violation of FA Rule E5 in relation to the integrity of matches and competitions.

The rules state that participants “do not attempt to affect outcomes, progress, behavior, or other aspects, or other events, directly or indirectly.”

The panel supported two accusations against Paqueta and informed the FA investigation because it failed to answer the question. The governing body said it would decide appropriate sanctions at the earliest opportunity.

The full reason for the verdict has not yet been made public.
