LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Justin Rose may have found an interesting place to prepare for the British Open. It’s inside a Premier League stadium.
Everton have opened up their waterfront home, Bramley Moor Dock, for upper deck golf, with tee boxes set high in the stands and a custom green laid out in the field below.
The club announced that it will be the first time such an experience has been held at a stadium outside of North America, and will be held from July 16th to 19th, the same day the British Open Championship will be held at nearby Royal Birkdale. Play in the open game will be projected on screens inside the stadium.
Currently writing for 4th place X Rose took note. He was “on the ground for the week” to play in the British Open, but before the world’s oldest major tournament began, he challenged fellow British player Tommy Fleetwood to a match.
“Certainly Everton will solve us at tea time,” Rose wrote.
The club responded: “You are both very welcome.”
The event will take place during Everton’s off-season, but manager David Moyes appeared unaware of it when asked about it on Friday ahead of his weekly pre-match press conference.
“To take a big divot off the pitch, you know?” Moyes said.
