Alejandro Garnacho regrets “I did something bad”

IIt hasn’t been an easy season for Alejandro Garnacho. He left Manchester United through the back door last summer and has struggled in his first season at Chelsea, failing to shine with his football. In a conversation with Sky Sports, the Argentine player confessed his regrets over the way his love affair with Old Trafford ended.

“In the last six months I haven’t been able to play as much as I used to at Manchester United. I started staying on the bench. It wasn’t so bad. I was only 20, but in my head I always knew I should play.” “In my mind, maybe it was my fault too. I started doing bad things. But yeah, it was just a moment in life and sometimes you have to make decisions. I’m very proud to be here with a club like this and still in the Premier League,” he said of Chelsea. This season, after the Blues paid him a hefty sum ($54 million), he had one goal and four assists in the English competition.

“We know our team and what we are capable of. There are good moments and there are bad moments. I’m proud to be here now. My life is normal and happy. I can’t say anything bad about the club, about my teammates, about United. This was just a change of stages in my life. My life went on. I have to move on,” he said.

However, Garnacho admitted that leaving Manchester United hurt after having a disagreement with Ruben Amorim and starring in several controversies over his usual substitutions under the Portuguese manager. “Well, probably because I loved this club. From Spain they believed in me and took me to the youth academy and then to the first team. It was a great four or five years with a lot of love from the fans and the stadium. But sometimes things have to change for life or to take the next step. I have only good memories of Manchester United,” he said.

Will you say goodbye to the World Cup with Argentina?

He has not featured prominently in Chelsea’s rotation alongside Liam Rosenior, which puts him in a difficult situation ahead of the World Cup. Scaloni has the final say, but is unlikely to be included in the final squad at this point. Garnacho had the option of playing for the Spanish national team, but preferred Albiceleste. “I chose Argentina because they gave me confidence from the beginning that I was important for the future. Playing alongside Messi is an opportunity I can’t easily say no to,” he explained. “It was a dream. I spent a week with him, ate with him every day, trained with him, lived with him. I even asked him to take my picture.”
