Manchester United will be without several key first-team players when they face Leeds United on Monday night. The two long-time rivals will clash in a highly anticipated clash at Old Trafford. These two cities may not be right next door neighbors, but their fixtures have all proven to be as ferocious as the North London Derby, Tynewear Derby and Old Firm.
It is therefore vital that manager Michael Carrick has the strongest squad available for this game, with far more at stake than just three points. Unfortunately for the caretaker manager, he will have to contend with a string of absentees as the 8pm kick-off begins in Greater Manchester, with talented players left out due to various complaints. Harry Maguire will also miss this game due to his red card against Bournemouth before the international break.

Lisandro Martinez has been sidelined for United since February’s 1-1 draw with West Ham due to a hamstring problem.
Despite this, the centre-back is nearing the end of his recovery and could be in contention with Leeds. Carrick said of Martinez in a press conference this week: “It’s our decision. We’re not going to be forced into anything. I think it’s important that the players are ready.”
“As much as the next game is always important, it’s the big picture that is most important. So that’s the decision we make. He’s back in training, which is great, and he’s back on the grass.”
“But we certainly have to make the right decision and make sure he’s ready. We’ve talked about it a lot, but he’s still out.”
Expected return date: Monday 13th April vs Leeds United

Matthijs de Ligt has been sidelined since November with a hip injury, and unfortunately it looks like he won’t be back for Monday night’s game. “It’s just treatment and rehabilitation. The reason he hasn’t come is because he hasn’t been on the grass yet,” Carrick explained.
He added: “Patrick (Dawg) came with us and Pat is a little further down the road. Matta hasn’t reached that stage yet so it was important for him… to really continue his rehabilitation and try to get him back. There’s nothing else.”
Expected return date: unknown
Patrick Dorg took part in Manchester United’s recent training camp in the Republic of Ireland, but there is still a long way to go before returning to competitive action. The Danish star has not featured for United since injuring his hamstring in the 3-2 win over Arsenal in January.
Expected return date: unknown
Diogo Dalot missed United’s recent camp due to illness but should be available for Monday night’s Premier League match.
