AUGSBURG, Germany (AP) — Hoffenheim conceded two early goals but fought back to draw 2-2 with Augsburg on Friday, ending its hopes of qualifying for the Bundesliga’s Champions League.
Hoffenheim are without a win in five games and remain in fifth place, two points behind Leipzig and Stuttgart. The top four will be guaranteed a lucrative spot in the Champions League.
Augsburg started the game in 11th place, without a win in five games, but took a 2-0 lead after 14 minutes with goals from Alexis Claude-Maurice and Michael Gregoritsch.
However, Czech defender Robin Franach reduced Hoffenheim’s lead 10 minutes before half-time, and Bazmana Toure sealed the comeback with a shot from a narrow angle three minutes before half-time.
Augsburg should have won, but Claude-Maurice missed a penalty with five minutes remaining.
