Manchester United could trade one unwanted player for a much-needed new signing as soon as the summer transfer window opens. The Red Devils return to action next Monday when they host Leeds at Old Trafford. Manager Michael Carrick took his first-team squad to a training camp in Ireland to prepare the returning players for the Premier League.
The players, who were not called up for international duty, have been training hard during their break at Carton House. United manager Steve Holland admitted his side were “focused” on the domestic run-in and was delighted to see the group reunited. He said: “All the players have spent a few weeks apart representing different countries, so it’s nice to be together again.”
“There are important preparations left, so it’s important to get the group back together and focus on that.”

Elliott Anderson transfer approaching
United want to sign Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson at the earliest opportunity. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club are keen to bring in a replacement for Casemiro, as well as other players who could potentially leave the club.
United reportedly have two midfielders on the market, and it looks increasingly likely that they will be able to offer their new signings for next season’s Champions League.
According to reports, the club are actively preparing to sign Anderson in a bid to fend off rivals Manchester City in the race to sign him. However, it may take an offer of around £100m to persuade Forest to approve a deal.
With the World Cup just around the corner this summer, United will be keen to complete the transfer quickly to prevent the asking price from rising even higher.
Unfavorable star player finds replacement club
The potential addition of a player like Anderson would open the door for overlooked players to seek pastures new. One such fringe player is Manuel Ugarte, who has attracted interest from multiple clubs.
According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa have been confirmed to be part of the monitoring team for the Uruguayan midfielder. Juventus and Newcastle are also interested as Ugarte looks set to leave Old Trafford after just two seasons.
The 24-year-old has played just 915 minutes of football this season, starting seven league games and coming on as a substitute in 14. United are valuing the midfielder at around £35m and it is thought that serious negotiations could begin as early as May.
