LIVERPOOL, England (AP) – Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson will leave the club at the end of his ninth season at Anfield when his contract expires.
The Scotland captain has helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and other accolades since taking over in 2017.
A club statement on Thursday called Robertson, who played 373 games, a “true Liverpool legend”.
“Leaving a club like Liverpool is never easy. Liverpool has been a huge part of my and my family’s life for the last nine years,” said Robertson, 32.
He had the chance to leave last year, but “I didn’t take it because of how difficult it would be to leave this club.”
“But I know football moves forward, I know teams move forward, and I think now is the time for me to move on and make the next move, wherever my career takes me,” Robertson said.
The news will arrive in two weeks Mohamed Salah’s departure — also announced at the end of the season.
