The Portuguese midfielder reached a new record, proving how important he is to the team and how he has managed to remain consistent despite United’s downturn and the numbers back him up.
Bruno Fernandes assist record
Fernandes provided two important assists and was the driving force for the team. The first time was when he set up Casemiro, and the second time was when he fed Matheus Cunha with a precise ball to restore United’s lead. With these two interventions, the Portuguese player reached the current figure of 16 assists in the Premier League.
This officially surpassed David Beckham’s historic record of 15 assists during the legendary 1999/2000 season.

After this feat, Manchester United published an interview on social networks in which Fernandes was clearly moved by being compared to Beckham. The Portuguese was lavish in his praise of the former England captain.
“To be able to be a player with that name, one of the players that everyone admires in terms of crossing and passing. Everyone has always tried to do like Beckham in their own garden…I’m very happy to have achieved that,” Fernandes said.
Beckham’s response came quickly. Via Instagram, the United legend has already gone viral by displaying his class and egolessness by dedicating a direct message of just five words.
