MANCHESTER, England (AP) — manchester united will increase season ticket prices at Old Trafford by 5% for the 2026-27 season and relocate hundreds of fans to create more hospitality seats.
The 20-time English champions have not won a Premier League title since 2013 but said on Friday their aim was to return to the “pinnacle of domestic and European football”.
“We want to continue to invest in our team and improve our facilities to ensure our fans have the best possible experience. We also need to ensure our club is financially sustainable given inflation and rising costs,” the team said in a statement.
The club said the increase of “approximately 5% across all areas of Old Trafford” equates to an average of just over £2 per game for adult season holders.
Manchester United Supporters Trust said the changes were “disappointing”. It pointed to a league-wide campaign by football supporters’ associations to freeze ticket prizes.
“Supporters are paying more and more money to watch their team. As the FSA camp has said, enough is enough,” MUST said in a statement.
Speaking about plans for the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand, the newspaper said: “We also know that a further 600 loyal fans will be on the move, looking for even more hospitality than ever before.” “It is natural for those people to be furious and the club needs to treat them better than those who went through the same thing last year.”
Hospitality areas are a lucrative opportunity for clubs and often attract tourists who are willing to pay high prices.
