LONDON (AP) – Leeds manager Daniel Farke has been suspended for one match for scurrying to the referee and complaining immediately after a game. Lost 1-0 to Manchester City Premier League last weekend.
Falke will be unable to take to the touchline in Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Norwich at Elland Road after being shown a red card by match referee Peter Banks.
On Friday, the German accepted FA sanctions, including an 8,000-pound ($10,600) fine, rather than risk a two-match suspension.
Farke defended his actions after the loss to City and said he wanted to know why more time had not been added.
“I’m not light as a butterfly. I don’t look incredibly cute and sweet when I’m jogging,” he said. “I’ll never jog on the pitch again.
“There wasn’t a single bad word. I didn’t abuse him at all. I didn’t say any bad words at all. As soon as I arrived, he had a red card in his hand.”
Leeds lost 1-0 at home to Sunderland on Tuesday, leaving them just three points clear of the relegation zone. The next Premier League match will be played at Crystal Palace on March 15th.
