KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) – The Asian Football Confederation has postponed the Continental Club Championship playoffs scheduled for this week in the Middle East. America and Israel attack Iran.
Asian football’s governing body issued a statement on Sunday saying that the AFC Champions League Elite Round of 16, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in the Western Region, will be rescheduled.
The AFC Champions League 2 and AFC Challenge League quarter-finals scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in the West Zone are also postponed. No new date has been set.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi club Al Nasr is one of the teams participating in the two Asian Champions League competitions.
The AFC All-Continent Championship East Division matches will continue as scheduled, organizers said.
“AFC continues to closely monitor this rapidly evolving situation and remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and security of all players, teams, officials and fans,” the AFC said in a statement.
AFC is hosting Women’s Asian Cup in Australia from Sunday. Iran is among the 12 national teams participating.
