BERLIN (AP) — The best team in Germany isn’t necessarily the best in Bavaria.

Bayern Munich suffered their first Bundesliga defeat of the season on Saturday, 2-1 at home to Bayern’s rivals Augsburg. Bayern star Michael Olisse’s final kick of the match hit the crossbar.

It is the first time since Bayern lost 3-2 at home to Bochum on March 8 last year that they failed to pick up more than a point in a league match.

Augsburg were just three points out of the relegation zone before the game, but had not won a game since early December. Then, in the 23rd minute, Bayern defender Hiroki Ito headed in a corner from Michael Olise to take the lead, forcing Manuel Baum’s team to come from behind to win in Munich.

Bayern missed another good opportunity and the first half ended when Augsburg’s Robin Verhauer hit the crossbar.

In the second half, the visitors pushed hard for an equalizer, and in the 75th minute Artur Chaves headed home a goal into the top corner, but Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Ulbig couldn’t reach it.

Six minutes later, Dimitrios Giannoulis ran up the left flank and crossed into the middle for Han Noa Massengo to score the winning goal.

Bayern remained 11 points clear of Borussia Dortmund, with the second-place team later playing away to Union Berlin.

Eintracht Frankfurt also continued their habit of conceding three goals when they lost 3-1 at home to top-ranked Hoffenheim. frankfurt, Director Dino Topmeler fired Last weekend, they conceded three goals in all five games played in 2026.

Former Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez scored his first goal for Leverkusen in a 1-0 win over Werder Bremen. With this, Leverkusen ended their losing streak in official games with three games.

Leipzig defeated relegation-threatened Heidenheim 3-0, while Mainz continued to improve under new coach Urs Fischer, defeating Wolfsburg 3-1.
