OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) — Burkina Faso has fired coach Blama Traore and his assistants following the team’s disappointing results. africa cup of nations.
The Burkinabe Football Federation announced on Wednesday that the performance at the Africa Cup in Morocco was “far below the goals set for the national team.”

“This poor performance caused deep disappointment to supporters, national football officials and the governing body,” the federation said.
“As a reminder, the objective clearly set before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup was to reach at least the semi-finals, in line with the positive momentum and admirable performances achieved by the national team in previous competitions.”

The federation thanked Traore and his colleagues for their work since 2024 and said: “We assure all supporters and partners that we will take immediate steps to start a new selection process for the coaching staff.”
