LONDON (AP) — Raul Jimenez scored a record-equalling first-half penalty to give Fulham a 1-0 win over lowly Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Monday.
The London side were looking to avoid a third successive home league defeat for the second time since promotion in 2022, but Jimenez’s precise strike from 12 meters avoided that fate in an uninspiring encounter.
A turbulent first half took a turn when Douglas Ruiz fouled fellow Brazilian Kevin seconds before half-time, giving Fulham a spot-kick.
Mexican striker Jimenez scored his 11th goal in 11 attempts to maintain his 100% conversion rate record in the league. Yaya Toure is the only other player to have converted 11 out of 11 penalties in this tournament.
“I like having penalty pressure,” Jimenez said. “I’ve never missed one. I’m really happy and I want to keep going. If there’s another penalty, I’ll be there.”
Forest went further into the game early in the second half, but Fulham had the best chance to score with Jimenez and Kevin both missing good opportunities.
The result of the last Premier League game before Christmas saw the Cottage move up two places to 13th, level on points with the teams above them, Brentford and Newcastle.
Forest remain in 17th place, five points adrift of the bottom three.
