BOLOGNA, Italy (AP) – Defending champion Bologna will face Lazio in the Italian Cup quarterfinals after winning their respective Round of 16 matches on Thursday.
Bologna came from behind to beat Parma 2-1, while Lazio defeated AC Milan 1-0.
The match in Bologna looked like it was going to go to penalties, but substitute Santiago Castro headed in Emil Holm’s cross in the 89th minute.
Parma, who are struggling in Serie A, took an unexpected lead in the 13th minute when Adrian Benediczak ran in to a through ball from Mattias Rovik, past Federico Ravaglia.
However, Bologna, who won the competition for the first time in 52 years last season, equalized just before half-time. Jonathan Rowe’s first shot hit the post, but the English winger controlled the rebound and fired home for his first goal since joining Bologna in August.
There was another bright spot for Bologna as Ciro Immobile came on in the second half, coming on as a substitute for the first time since injuring his thigh in August.

Lazio scored the only goal of the match from a corner kick that probably should not have been awarded.
Milan defender Pervis Estupignan headed the free kick and the ball appeared to hit Lazio’s Alessio Romagnoli on the way, but the referee awarded the home team a corner kick.
In the 80th minute, a free Mattia Zaccagni headed the ball into the back of the goal.
