NEW YORK (AP) – Saturday’s National Women’s Soccer League championship game between Gotham FC and the Washington Spirit averaged 1.184 million viewers on CBS and Paramount+, the league announced Tuesday.
The NWSL announced that this final was the most-watched final in league history, with a 22% increase in viewership compared to the 2024 final and a 45% increase compared to the 2023 final.
gotham won Rose Lovell’s goal in the second half made it 1-0.. The game, held at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, drew a peak television audience of 1.55 million viewers.
“This record attendance demonstrates the deepening connection between fans, players, clubs and the world-class game on the field, and confirms the growing demand for women’s soccer on the biggest stage,” NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman said in a statement released by the league.
The seven NWSL postseason games aired on ABC/ESPN and CBS drew an average audience of 550,000 viewers and a total of 3.36 million viewers, the league announced. This is an 18% increase compared to the 2024 season.
According to the league, the total attendance for the seven playoff games was 114,459. The final match drew a capacity crowd of 18,000 people.
