LONDON (AP) — Chelsea and Barcelona traded first-half goals Thursday for a 1-1 draw as both teams remained unbeaten in the Women’s Champions League.
Chelsea looked set for a winning goal in the 83rd minute with a header from substitute Catarina Macario, but she was ruled offside and Sonia Bompastre’s side ended the night in sixth place with eight points from four games.
Ellie Carpenter scored in the 16th minute at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea’s lead did not last long. Eight minutes later, Eva Pajor equalized for the visitors.
Barcelona take the lead 18 team standingslevel with points (10) OL Lyons. The draw ended Barcelona’s winning streak in Europe’s elite club competition at three.
The top four teams advance to the quarterfinals, teams from 5th to 12th place participate in the final tournament, and the bottom six teams are eliminated.
Also on Thursday, Bayern Munich defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 in the French capital. PSG are at the bottom of the table, having lost all four games in the Champions League. Bayern moved up to fifth place.
In Belgium, Roma earned their first point in the league with a 1-1 draw with OH Leuven. In the Netherlands, Atletico Madrid defeated Twente 4-0.
