England manager Thomas Tuchel says Jude Bellingham needs to accept his decision after the midfielder expressed displeasure at being substituted in the final minute. 2-0 victory over Albania in world cup Sunday is the European qualifying round.
Bellingham was substituted in the 80th minute and was sent off four minutes later, having made his first start for England since June. Immediately after the second goal, the 22-year-old Real Madrid star raised his arms in frustration at Morgan Rodgers, who was waiting to be substituted on the touchline.
“That is the decision and he has to accept that decision,” Tuchel said. “His friends are waiting on the sidelines, so you have to accept that, respect that and keep moving forward.”
Coach Tuchel said: “We need to review it.” I clashed with Bellingham before.. “I can tell he’s not happy. I don’t want to make the situation any bigger than it is at this point.”
Manager Tuchel praised England’s players for their contributions to this season, in which they won all eight games without conceding a goal.
“Congratulations to those guys. It was fun to play with them and drive them from the sideline,” he said.
