WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) — Wolfsburg parted ways with sporting director Sebastian Schinjilorz on Thursday, days after firing his coach. Paul Simonis.
Former Wolves player Sinjirolts had been the sporting director since February 2023.
Much like Simonis last week, Sinjilorz paid the price for the team’s lackluster start to the season.
“Sebastian has always demonstrated his full commitment to VfL Wolfsburg with loyalty, dedication and great expertise,” said Peter Christiansen, the club’s managing director for sport. “However, given the current sporting climate, we decided that this position needed new impetus.”
Mr. Christiansen will temporarily take over Mr. Singirolts’ role.
wolfsburg lost to Werder Bremen They were 2-1 in the Bundesliga last week, suffering three consecutive losses, including a loss to Holstein Kiel in the second division of the German Cup. Wolfsburg have lost seven of their last eight games and won just two of their 10 league games.
Wolfsburg’s next match after the international break will be at home against Bayer Leverkusen on November 22nd.
