BERLIN (AP) — Japan midfielder Yuito Suzuki scored his first Bundesliga goal on Sunday as Freiburg defeated St. Pauli 2-1.
The 24-year-old Suzuki, who joined Freiburg from Danish team Brøndby in the off-season, scored five minutes before the break after intercepting St. Pauli goalkeeper Nicolas Vasili’s corner kick attempt.
Five minutes after the break, Maximilian Eggestein scored from close range to make it 2-0, but a late goal from St. Pauli’s Louis Oppy in the 69th minute marked the finale of the exciting game.
Jackson Irvine closed in on the visiting team in the final stages, but was unable to stop the promoted team from losing seven consecutive league games.
Augsburg lost again
German forward Deniz Unduff scored twice as Stuttgart came from behind to beat Augsburg twice at home, winning 3-2.
The 29-year-old Unduff scored a brace before the international break to help Stuttgart maintain fourth place, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen.
Augsburg have now lost four straight games in all competitions, and manager Sandro Wagner will be anxiously awaiting whether he will be able to lead the team in their next match against promoted group Hamburger SV on November 22nd.
Eintracht Frankfurt hosted Mainz in a local derby later on Sunday.
Union Berlin held Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw on Saturday, ending Bayern Munich’s run of 16 straight wins this season. Bayern star Harry Kane scored in stoppage time to prevent the league leaders from suffering their first defeat.
