BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Barcelona sold 23,000 tickets Friday for team training at the modernized Camp Nou stadium.
It will be Barcelona’s first time on the pitch at Camp Nou since their last match in May 2023.
According to the club, tickets are sold out. The cost is 5 euros (about $6) for club members and 10 euros (about $12) for the general public.
Construction work on Camp Nou’s renovation, costing around 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion), began in June 2023 to expand the capacity of Europe’s largest soccer venue from just under 100,000 to 105,000.
The club had hoped to resume matches in November 2024 to coincide with the club’s 125th anniversary. However, there are delays in construction and obstacles to obtaining permits. Club president Joan Laporta said this week that he hoped to play the match at Camp Nou this month.
The team has played in the city’s 55,000-seat Olympic Stadium since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Coach Hansi Flick’s team are training ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match.
