FOr for just a few moments, it felt like Manchester United were starting to turn a corner under manager Ruben Amorim. With three consecutive wins, the Red Devils are back in the conversation for a top-four spot. They still are, but Manchester United fans are more familiar these days with a 2-2 draw with relegation contenders Nottingham Forest.
It wasn’t that long ago that United finished third in the Premier League, but a poor start to the 2023-24 season and 2024-25 saw Erik ten Hag sacked and Amorim arrived with high expectations. Amorim, a former Portuguese teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo, could do nothing to prevent the season from being a disaster. The situation worsened further at the beginning of the 2025-26 season, with United eliminated from the EFL Cup by a League Two side.

Ronaldo believes there is a bit of an identity crisis between the club and the players. Amorim may simply be a passenger on a sinking ship.
