PARIS (AP) — Forward Felix Correia had two goals and an assist as Lille defeated last-place Metz 6-1 in the French league on Sunday to stay just outside of leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
It was the second time this season that the northern team won by at least five goals, after defeating Lorient 7-1 last time out.
Lille are three points behind defending champions PSG, who are one point behind French league leaders Reims. Won 3-0 in Brest Saturday.
Metz remained at the bottom of the table without a win after nine games.
Despite the absence of striker Olivier Giroud, Lille were unstoppable after Hamza Igamane broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.
Further goals for Lille came from Haakon Haraldsson, Benjamin Andre and Romain Perrault, with Ybou Sane pulling one back in stoppage time.
Rennes’ winless streak continues
Rennes coach Habib Beyer’s future with the Brittany team is in jeopardy after a 2-1 defeat at home to Nice. It was Rennes’ second league defeat of the season, extending the club’s winless streak to five games.
Sofiane Diop scored his fifth goal of the season for Nice. He took the lead with a beautiful curling shot after receiving a cutback pass from provider-turned-scorer Jonathan Kraus just before halftime.

Struggling Angers defeated Lorient 2-0 for their second win of the season.
Le Havre lost 6-2 to Marseille last weekend, but bounced back with a 1-0 win against Auxerre.
