Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the BBC after Chelsea’s important win over Burnley.
Beating Brighton in the EFL Cup was essential. Following that with a win over Fulham in the Premier League felt like an important step and got 3 points on the board. Beating Burnley here, in the last game before the international break, coming from a goal down, felt massive.
Pochettino is trying not to get too carried away – let’s not forget we were poor in the first half today, but equally he wants to reward his players with praise for some increasingly effective performances.
“We are in a good way. Even when we did not get the good results, we were confident that we were going to turn it around in a positive way,” the Chelsea boss said.
“The situation when the owners took over was difficult. With time and doing the right things, we can get what we need to be more stable and to provide the players with the capacity to perform,” hinting that more time will only improve the situation.
It’s nice to feel like things are coming together, and it’s now a particularly painful international break.
We just pray that it’s used to build on the success of the last few weeks, and that it doesn’t sap the momentum that was building up.
