A Chelsea fan out there in the Twitterverse has picked out clips of his excellent performance against Dortmund, and he and others like him are creating a new view on the full back’s terrible debut season at Chelsea.
Their argument is that he was being used wrong – he’s a “heavy pressing” player not one for “tracking runners.”
If he’s used right, they seem to think he be a lot better. One thing you’d have to ask is why he’s not a pressing midfielder then, rather than a full back, where tracking runners is rather important.
You can see the footage in the clip embedded here and make your own mind up:
This is what happens when you use Cucurella in the role that suits him, this is what happens when the team backs up the press to let him play his heavy pressing game rather than the team not tracking runners, underrated pic.twitter.com/ucJDDpAJF3

What do you make of it all? Bunk engagement searching, or is there really something to this?
