AC Milan are in danger of missing out on signing Christian Pulisic.
Lyon have positioned themselves to be the frontrunners to sign the United States international star after tabling an offer worth €25 million, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
AC Milan were reportedly close to reaching an agreement on personal terms with the 24-year-old in recent days but was seemingly reluctant to meet Chelsea’s valuation – believed to be around €25 million.
The Italian side submitted the first offer worth €14 million on Sunday, Ornstein adds.
But Milan now face the risk of missing out on another transfer target after Lyon submitted a formal bid, which reportedly includes a substantial sell-on clause. Milan also missed out on Marcus Thuram after the French international decided to join rivals Inter Milan last week.
Pulisic, who has a year left on his contract, has 26 goals in 145 appearances since joining Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. He struggled last season, however, scoring just once in 24 Premier League appearances.
He’s been capped by the United States 60 times.
