Chelsea captain Reece James faces a ban after being hit with a charge from the Football Association for using “insulting or abusive” language towards a referee.
The Evening Standard are today reporting that the Chelsea captain used bad language to the officials after Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa. James is currently injured, so wasn’t even on the bench, but he was clearly unhappy by the red card that Malo Gusto was given for a tackle for right in front of the Chelsea bench.
There was also a farcical moment at the end of the first staff, where some sort of mix up led to first half being ended a minute and a half early.

James apparently confronted the Jarred Gillett in the tunnel after the game, and now faces a ban, likely only a game or two. Given he’s already out injured, and not expected back until late October, it shouldn’t affect things too much.
James has until Friday 29th September to respond to this charge.
