Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante in the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to solve his midfield issues.
Despite their struggles this season, Liverpool opted not to sign midfield reinforcements in January.
Cody Gakpo was the only new arrival during the transfer window to the frustration of Liverpool supporters.
The Reds are expected to make a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in the summer, while other midfield targets – including Matheus Nunes, Moises Caicedo and Sofyan Amrabat – have also been linked with a move to Anfield.
A sensational report has now claimed that Liverpool are considering a move for Kante in the summer.
The France international has missed the majority of the season after suffering a hamstring injury early on in the campaign.
He has made just two appearances this term and is yet to feature under Chelsea boss Graham Potter.
Kante, 31, is out of contract at the end of the season and his future at Stamford Bridge is unclear.
But there are likely to be plenty of suitors for the World Cup winner if he is available on a free transfer in the summer.
Klopp: Kante is unbelievable
Klopp has made no secret of his admiration for the midfielder in the past.
Speaking ahead of a Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea in 2019, Klopp described the one-time PFA Player of the Year as “unbelievable”.
“It’s a really exciting team, it reminds me a little bit of my team at Borussia Dortmund a few years back when they were really young, even younger than this team now at Chelsea,” Klopp said at the time.
“And people always talked about how young they were, but they only played because they were that good, not because they were that young.
“Jorginho not that young, but not been that long in the league. You have Kante who looks like he could play for the next 20 years. Maybe he’s only 18 physically, it’s unbelievable.”
