Liverpool are continuing to “monitor” Vasco de Gama forward Talles Magno and are keen to learn more details about his availability, according to a report.

Speculation earlier this year linked Liverpool with a move for the 18-year-old Brazil Under-17 international.

The teenager has a strong record for his country, scoring three goals in six games. Further reports have claimed French champions Paris Saint-Germain top the list of other sides showing interest.

Magno also has suitors elsewhere in Europe, with Bayer Leverkusen and Sevilla watching on.

The initial reports about Liverpool’s interest surfaced in May and Yahoo Sport journalist Jorge Nicola has now insisted that the Reds’ situation has not changed.

Indeed, Liverpool recently made an approach, the reporter says, although no firm offer has arrived for Magno.

Instead, Anfield chiefs want to learn more about the player himself and his family situation. What’s more, they want to understand his overall attitude and the chances of striking a deal.

In any case, Liverpool have received a boost in that Vasco de Gama expect Magno’s price to tumble.

The Brazilian’s contract, which runs out in 2022, features a €50million (£45million) release clause. However, due to the financial impact of the coronavirus, the club will allow him to leave for €20million (£18million).

As such, Gama and Magno’s agent are keen to find a new club as soon as possible to ensure financial stability at their club.

Liverpool are unlikely to spend vast sums on players this summer and could raise funds through player sales. Indeed, boss Jurgen Klopp has previously reflected on the impact of the pandemic on his own club’s finances.

Meanwhile, reports elsewhere claim Liverpool are well in the hunt to sign Norwich left-back Jamal Lewis.

The Northern Irishman’s performances were one of few positives for the Canaries in their disappointing season.

Now, Liverpool have reportedly had a £10million bid rejected with the Norfolk club wanting at least £20million.

What’s more, Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough has given his backing over a deal.
