Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is on loan with Real Sociedad this season, and the defender has quickly made himself a regular fixture in the Spanish side.
The Scottish international has started three of the four matches in La Liga since joining Real Sociedad, and he only missed the fourth because he’d played in the Champions League against Inter Milan in their midweek game.
But Wednesday’s match against Valencia saw Tierney provide his first assist on loan, with a clever quick free-kick.
Tierney picked up the ball to take a free-kick on the left-hand side of the pitch, not far in advance of the centre-circle.
Spotting Carlos Fernandez ready to make a run, Tierney fired a quick pass down the channel before the Valencia defence was set.
Fernandez took a couple of touches to turn Mouctar Diakhaby – the only defender paying attention – before finishing the chance confidently.
It was undeniably fantastic work from the striker, but it was only possible thanks to Tierney’s moment of inspiration.
Valencia’s Selim Amallah was sent off later in the first half, and Tierney helped Real Sociedad to keep a clean sheet to see out the 1-0 win.
