Kane to Bayern: ‘Final details’ to be sorted out as Spurs

Reports Thursday night have stated that FC Bayern Munchen are on the verge of making one of the biggest splashes in the summer transfer market.

The 11-time defending German champions are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane in a record transfer worth at least $110 million. Bayern have pursued Kane for most of the summer and saw Spurs reject several bids for the 30-year-old, but breakthrough talks this week saw Tottenham relent — and the club’s record scorer is now set to leave in pursuit of silverware.

Bayern finally replace Lewandowski

Although Bayern won an 11th consecutive Bundesliga crown in May after hiring head coach Thomas Tuchel, the Bavarians uncharacteristically struggled to get over the finish line despite the outrageous talent at their disposal. They only overcame Borussia Dortmund to win the league in the final minutes of the final matchday, and they are determined not to let anyone else come so close next time.

In another show of financial might, Bayern are set to shatter the German transfer record in an effort to replace Robert Lewandowski with Kane, who was set to enter the final year of his contract in north London. Bayern sold the lethal Lewandowski to FC Barcelona last summer, and the Polish marksman immediately guided the Blaugrana to their first Spanish title in four years.

Kane to sign four-year pact

Kane will depart Tottenham as its all-time top scorer, with 280 goals in 435 appearances. He is also the top scorer in the history of the England national team — and even without trophies to his name, he has fashioned for himself a career as one of the planet’s top forwards.

For Spurs, Kane’s departure is a chance for new head coach Ange Postecoglou to put his stamp on the team and forge a new identity with a copious amount of cash now at his disposal. But this process is likely to take some time, while Kane will have the chance to win multiple trophies right out of the gate in Munich.
