Gabriel Martinelli dazzled with an outrageous assist to Nketiah, while Saka’s bullet doubled Arsenal’s advantage.

Forest’s late response, thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi, made the end far nervier for the Gunners than it needed to be but they weathered a storm they will hopefully learn from.

The game also saw a kick-of delay off 30 minutes due to a failure in the new online ticketing system.

Fans were stuck outside, leading to calls for an investigation. Arteta apologised and expressed gratitude to the referees and Forest for allowing the delay.
