Ratcliffe admitted the 2025\/26 season has had a rocky start, but said the division will not be reactionary in the face of early-season adversity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mt-3 first:mt-0 lg:mt-4\">\n<div data-testid=\"atom-body-paragraph\" class=\"text-onLight-02 break-words body-2 md:body-1\">&#8220;He hasn&#8217;t had his best season. Ruben has three years to prove he&#8217;s a great coach and that&#8217;s what I can do,&#8221; he told The Business, a podcast produced by The Times and The Sunday Times.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mt-3 first:mt-0 lg:mt-4\">\n<p>&#8220;Dear press, sometimes I don&#8217;t understand. They want overnight success. They think it&#8217;s a light switch. Three years. Because football doesn&#8217;t happen overnight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mt-3 first:mt-0 lg:mt-4\">\n<p>Ineos&#8217; chairman and CEO compared Amorim&#8217;s position to that of Arsenal&#8217;s Mikel Arteta, with the Spaniard enduring some difficult periods in his early years in charge and comfortably establishing the team as one of the best in the Premier League. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mt-3 first:mt-0 lg:mt-4\">\n<p>Ratcliffe said: &#8220;You also have to look at Arteta at Arsenal. He had a terrible first few years. We have to be patient. We have a long-term plan. We&#8217;re local and they&#8217;re across the pond. It&#8217;s a long way to go trying to manage a football club as big and complex as Manchester United.
