When the match against Coventry on Wednesday on Sheffield was suspended just 10 minutes later, several angry fans broke into the pitch at Hillsboro. Tensions have risen over the past few months, and supporters have become increasingly unhappy with owl owner Dejphon Chansiri. Their players have not been paid on time for five months of the past seven months due to the club’s ongoing financial issues.<\/p>\n

Payday in September was also overlooked, but this could result in further sanctions from the EFL. They have already hit the Championship club with multiple embargoes over the past seven months. Angry fans keep letting their feelings go, and some supporters have taken things to another level against Coventry by hitting the pitch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ten minutes into the opening, a small number of home fans broke into the arena and created a beeline for the centre circle. The referee was forced to pause the match in Play Inmperation under this circumstances.<\/p>\n

The game was able to resume after about five minutes late. Thanks to an early opening game from Brandon Thomas Asante, Coventry led with one goal.<\/p>\n

Before the kickoff in Hillsboro, there was a tweet on social media that protests were on cards. Coventry boss Frank Lampard expressed sympathy for the owl supporters in his build-up to the fixture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He states: \u201cThat is what I have a lot of sympathy for Sheffield’s Wednesday fans.<\/p>\n

“I understand their feelings, but I’m not touching on the story completely, but I understand that, but I have to think about Coventry City and my players, and what I’m hearing about people might come on the pitch, we didn’t have much clarity.<\/p>\n

“This morning, there’s some conversations about the security of the players, their security of the players, and what will happen as we go there. As I say, my first concern is us.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There was also fear that owl players could take action by refusing to train and fill the match, but Pederson confirmed earlier this week that he hadn’t yet reached that point.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
