Potter was in charge in January, leading the London Club to a 14th place finish last season.<\/p>\n
“The results and performances between the second half of last season and the beginning of the 2025-26 season are not consistent with expectations,” West Ham said.<\/p>\n

Problemous tenure<\/h2>\n
West Ham turned to Potter in early 2025 after longtime boss David Moet succeeded Julen Lopetegui, who only lasted 22 games.<\/p>\n
Potter rejected multiple employment offers during a spell from management for almost two years after his firing by Chelsea, which lasted seven months in the 2022-23 season. Before that, he built a strong reputation in his stints in Swedish, Swansea and Brighton. <\/p>\n
West Ham only won two wins from his final 11 league matches last season, losing key attacker Mohammed Kudus in the offseason.<\/p>\n
The uncertainty among West Ham supporters couldn’t be alleviated after the gusts of signatures in the last few weeks of the transfer period coincided with a fierce defeat to Sunderland (3-0) and Chelsea (5-1) in August.<\/p>\n
Last month’s 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest provided some rest, but West Ham fell to Tottenham on the same score after an international break in September and another defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.<\/p>\n
Nuno is waiting<\/h2>\n
Thanks to a seventh place finish in the league last season, Nuno will be a quick return to management, which led the forest to European competition for the first time in 30 years.<\/p>\n
However, he was fired for just three games this season after his working relationship with the club’s hierarchy deteriorated.<\/p>\n
The Portuguese coach made a very public escape with owner Evangelos Marinakis. This is reportedly due to a breakdown in relations with Edu Gaspar, the club’s recently employed global football manager.<\/p>\n
He previously coached Wolverhampton and Tottenham in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
