Arne Slot provided a pessimistic rating for Giovan Nileoni after the Italian defender was stretched during Liverpool’s debut.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old had a great performance at the heart of the Reds’ defense in his Carabao Cup encounter with Southampton. However, after awkward fall while fighting for possession near a side job, he collapsed to the ground in clear pain.<\/p>\n
Following the extended halt, the former perm centre back who received the Maiden Senior Italian call during the recent international window was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and replaced by Milos Cerquez. During the post-match media briefing, Reds Boss Slot revealed: “Because he didn’t feel good right away.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut this is something we have to evaluate, and these things don’t usually happen in five to ten minutes, so we need to see how he’s coming in until tomorrow and do an MRI scan to find out more.<\/p>\n

“Usually, players’ emotions taught you a lot. I saw a player from Dutch Eredivisy over the weekend.<\/p>\n
When asked whether Leoni had injured his knee, Slot replied, “It’s not his shoulder.”<\/p>\n
The teenager’s injury cast a shadow on the night when Liverpool booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in a 2-1 victory courtesy of Alexander Isaac’s club’s first goal, casting a shadow over the late effort from Hugo Ekitique.<\/p>\n

Looking back at his team’s show, Slot said, “It’s not our best performance. If you’re playing a completely new team, you can expect a lot of players who haven’t played in a long time.<\/p>\n
“There were positive things. Giorgi Mamardashvili had a good game. Federico Chiesa and Giovanni Leoni had good games.<\/p>\n
“It’s a positive out of the game, but the way we played as a team — Southampton played well so we didn’t take anything away — that wasn’t our best performance.”<\/p>\n
