Manchester United made record revenues in the 2024\/25 season.<\/h2>\n

Manchester United released the 2024\/25 financial results as Reuben Amorim’s team was preparing to face Chelsea in a key Premier League match last week. The campaign may have been a pitch nightmare, but then there was good news.<\/p>\n
The club announced record financial revenue of \u00a3666.5 million, record commercial revenue of \u00a3333.3 million and record daily revenue of \u00a3160.3 million. United’s overall loss of \u00a3113.2 million has been reduced to \u00a333 million thanks to Ineos’ brutal cost-cutting exercises, including Ir Jim Ratcliffe and 400 redundancy.<\/p>\n
United finished 15th in the Premier League last season. It’s the worst arrangement since 1973\/74. They then lost the Europa League final against Tottenham, making things worse by missing the Champions League trophy and place this season.<\/p>\n
This was definitely the miserable end of a horrifying season. Still, from an economic standpoint, there was a silver lining for the club’s accountants. The club’s accountants did not have to pay the players a 25% bonus. Thus, wages were reduced from a whopping \u00a351.5 million to \u00a3313.3 million. This is the lowest level since 2019\/20.<\/p>\n

Despite the struggles, Amorim’s team has won 18 out of 18 out of 48 matches in all competitions under the Portuguese boss, but Brand United does not seem to have an impact on the quality of the product itself.<\/p>\n
“It shows Manchester United are shocking,” football finance expert Kieran Maguire tells Miller Football. “Ed Woodward said United didn’t have to win a match to be commercially successful and people were unsure about it. They’ve delivered this past few years.”<\/p>\n
Woodward, a former executive vice chairman at United, is not a popular figure among fans. But he was right – and Ratcliffe and the Glazer family continue on their path, helping the club get out of a period of stagnation with commercial deals between Adidas and the Snapdragon.<\/p>\n

United are money-making machines, so clubs can afford to increase their debt. Currently, it is just under \u00a31.2 billion, with financial obligations of \u00a3742 million and transfer-related fees of \u00a3447 million.<\/p>\n
One of the biggest complaints with supporters in terms of the Glazer family, which has owned the club since 2003, is empty debt. That number is currently at an all-time high, and has increased significantly since Ratcliffe and Ineos operated the club’s sports side in February 2024.<\/p>\n
“Manchester United generates plenty of money through being popular with broadcasters for easy management of ticket sales, commercial transactions, goods and debt,” explains Maguire. “It’s not a concern, but it’s iconic. The Spurs have borrowed a lot, but they have a great new stadium.<\/p>\n

“They spent a lot of money on their players. They don’t deny that. They’re more than they generated from the players’ sales, and as a result, their borrowing has risen significantly. By Christmas.”<\/p>\n
United may not have European football this season, but they are looking for opportunities overseas to make more money. A highly critical postseason tour took place this summer for the first time before the preseason tour of the Far East. And now they are reportedly considering a midseason best friend in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
Maguire has theories about the direction of travel at United, planning a new stadium in the reclaimed Old Trafford area. “Fans are paying for it in a way now. Yes, it’s record revenue. This is because the prices are getting higher because of the huge rise in the match date revenue,” he says.<\/p>\n

“I think what they’re trying to do is turn Old Trafford from the football stadium into more experiences. I’ve been sitting with my peers for the past 30 years and seeing the traditional fans that have been on the grass.<\/p>\n
“What we see from Ineos is the alienation of Manchester United’s traditional local fan base, only coming once or twice a year, so they are ready to pay for their privileges, so they try to replace them with wealthier fans who want something memorable.”<\/p>\n
Essentially, United continue to trade off their glorious years under Sir Alex Ferguson. While performance disappears, the other side of things stays.<\/p>\n

“They owed a great debt to Ir Alex Ferguson because he built the brand, achieved success in that era, and, in line with the growth of satellite television, they were the dominant club in the Dominant League,” Maguire added. “Now they can tour pre-season and post-season. United fans can see them regardless of their league position.<\/p>\n
“Soccer is different from many other products. If you go to a restaurant and have some bad food, you find an alternative restaurant. But if my soccer team is bobbin for a few years, I have a lifelong brand loyalty with a football club that is in the perfect position for Manchester United to exercise, even if I’m moaning a little more.”<\/p>\n
