\n<\/figure><\/span>Jose Mourinho could become the manager of new Benfica by the end of this weekend<\/span><\/figcaption><\/div>\n
Jose Mourinho was able to make a quick return to management, and Benfica was about to appoint him by the weekend after he had fired Bruno Reiji. The Portuguese giant had linked Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim, but they reached an agreement with Mourinho.<\/p>\n
The 62-year-old, who was dismissed by Fenerbafe last month, led the Lisbon outfit in 11 games in his first management position in 2000.<\/p>\n
Lage paid for wasting a 2-0 lead at home and was xed early on Wednesday morning. Benfica president Louis Costa has insisted that a change of head coach would be necessary after a shocking result as he is once again trying to become Portugal’s best club.<\/p>\n
He intended to act very clearly as CNN Portugal, in principle, has reported that it has reached an agreement and that the two parties have finalized the contract. Costa said: “As for the next coach, we are expected to have a new coach on the bench at Vila Das Aves next Saturday.”<\/p>\n

It is set to become Mourinho, who has a great reputation in his hometown. The iconic coach first made his name, dominated the country, claiming the UEFA Cup and Champions League in consecutive seasons before moving to Chelsea.<\/p>\n
If Benfica lands Mourinho, it could conclude Amorim’s escape route, where his job at United appears to be unstable. That’s despite the hierarchy of Old Trafford, who claimed they were behind their man, regardless of his horrifying record.<\/p>\n
The main candidate to become Benfica’s next president, Joa Norona Lopez, traveled to Manchester last weekend to see Amorim’s side lose 3-0 to Etihad’s Manchester City. Lopez has not kept his plan to bring Amorim back to Benfica if he defeats Costa in next month’s election.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Record earlier this week, he didn’t hide his admiration for Amorim, but he actually distanced himself from appointing him.<\/p>\n
“Ruben Amorim? He’s a great coach and has a contract with Manchester United. I won’t comment on that. Of course I like him. He’s a great coach and a Benfica fan. There’s no contract that Reuben will sign.”<\/p>\n
Lopez’s vice president is Nuno Gomez, one of Amorim’s best friends who played with him for Benfica and Portugal, and the former striker revealed he is seeing him return to Lisbon one day.<\/p>\n
He was asked about his prospect of returning and said, “Ruben Amorim is the coach of Manchester United. I can’t answer that question. One thing I know is that Reuben Amorim will one day become Benfica’s coach.”<\/p>\n
