Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca reveals that Joa Pedro is “not fit,” and raises doubts about his involvement in Bayern Munich. The Bruce launched their Champions League campaign in Germany on Wednesday, returning to the competition after two years of absence.<\/p>\n
Signing the \u00a3600,000 signature Pedro played to 79-minute Brentford on Saturday, 2-2, as Chelsea admitted during the suspension period. However, the Brazilian forward told Maresca before the match that he was not fully healthy.<\/p>\n
Pedro, 23, played twice for Brazil during his international break, but did not begin his second match. He provided Cole Palmer’s equalizer assistance to Brentford, but the former Brighton star was unable to register a single shot, not his usual self.<\/p>\n
Maresca made changes to the starting lineup with Wednesday’s fixture in mind, but Chelsea’s lack of firepower in the offense saw him stick to Pedro despite his fitness concerns. “Before the game, Joan Pedro said he wasn’t 100% aligned.<\/p>\n
“So if you were thinking about Bayern Munich, Jois would be on the bench. But Jois played because it was the focus of the night. But certainly, when you have so many games, you have to plan another option.<\/p>\n

“For example, Reese James played two games on an international team. So play tonight and think about it on Wednesday. So it’s not. Our focus was tonight.<\/p>\n
“And if this season played the Champions League, that’s because it worked out in the Premier League. And if you want to play the Champions League again next season, you need to do well in the Premier League.”<\/p>\n

Maresca expects a different outcome than Saturday’s match, but his side felt that he had done enough to win the contest. “I think so, I think so,” the Italian asserted.<\/p>\n
“We scored twice in the second half. We could have scored two or three more goals, so I think we did well. Unfortunately, we lost two points in the last few minutes.”<\/p>\n
