Hoult, 52, has successfully completed his career in Leicester, Derby, Notts County, Portsmouth and West Brom. Over the course of 20 years, he marked England&#8217;s top four divisions, with 141 appearances in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>The former goalkeeper was diagnosed with primary sclerotic cholangitis in 2023 and four-stage bile duct cancer in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>His 24-year-old children, Kaley and Carter, are taking part in the Leicester Half Marathon to raise funds for the AMMF. Kayleigh writes: \u201cThis isn&#8217;t a simple post, but I feel it&#8217;s important to share the story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In September 2023, our incredible father, Russell Holt, was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). Almost a year later, in August 2024, he received devastating news that there was also stage 4 bile duct cancer (clinical duct cancer).&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cMost recently, we have been told that both conditions are terminals and Dad is currently in palliative care, which is very difficult for his family to agree.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our dad means the world to us. His strength, courage and sense of humor have not wavered in the face of such overwhelming challenges. We want to do something positive, not only to support him, but to help others who are facing the same illness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So, on October 26, 2025, we will run a half marathon in his honor and raise money for the AMMF.<\/p>\n<p>    For the latest broken stories and headlines, sign up for the Daily Express Transfer Newsletter. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>At the time of writing, the page had secured a total of \u00a37,089 from 322 supporters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s overwhelmed by the fundraising and how much we&#8217;ve raised so far, and as a family, we really want us to raise for such a good reason,&#8221; Kayley revealed to the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My dad was an absolutely amazing guy both inside and outside, and has always been a role model for myself and my siblings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;Dad never has boring moments. He is very positive and happy, even after the toughest times. He laughs so much and loves to crack everyday jokes in life. He is an absolute legend in every way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She continued: &#8220;He is a character and does not take life seriously. He has good and bad days, but he has not given up.
