Gary Neville is aiming for the BBC on how to handle his older brother Phil’s early media career. The two brothers set out for another critic’s career, combining more than 1,200 Premier League appearances. Gary thrived in front of the camera and won a box office partnership with Sky Sports Studios Liverpool icon Jamie Carrager.<\/p>\n

Phil, on the other hand, finds it difficult to make a lasting impression on his viewers. After resigning in 2013, he began Panditry Work with the BBC and was part of their commentary team a year later at the World Cup. However, he endured a difficult debut with his bland performance that caused complaints from overwhelming viewers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gary spoke about her brother’s media career during a recent appearance in football, where she also discussed Michael Owen’s media career. The latter recently made headlines by comparing his performance date to Wayne Rooney’s Day.<\/p>\n

After saying he understood the criticism of Owen’s career, Gary said: “I thought it was scandalous, in the way he was treated in his early media career, in the way people commented on it.”<\/p>\n

Ian Wright then suggests that he is “hanging out” to dry out, and Gary says, “Absolutely. Lightley, you know this. Joint associations are the most difficult thing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“This happened with my brother. Where they put him in his first game, the BBC put him in his first match in the World Cup, England vs. Italy, where 20 million people were watching.<\/p>\n

\u201cSky, with me, when I first joined… that’s still the worst thing I do right now, that’s the toughest thing I do.<\/p>\n

“A lot of people don’t see it, but it puts you in bed and softens you. Villa Agains (Manchester) City, not a big game back then. I played a lot of games on MUTV.<\/p>\n

“They (the sky) put me in a big game in March. It took them eight months to try me, test me, eat me, have a tough time with me, and bother me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I remember telling the producer in January, ‘This isn’t for me.’ He said: “I stick to it, but you need to be more conversational and more yourself.”<\/p>\n

“I had a lot of advice. I tried out the Michael Owen Premier League match first and to give Phil the World Cup… Honestly, you’re throwing the Lands into the Lions’ nest.”<\/p>\n

Phil continued to work for the BBC throughout the tournament and provided commentary on the other three games. He later moved to coaching, managing the Portland Timbers, who was now responsible for the Lioness and Intermiami.<\/p>\n
