Fulham was left in furious after Josh King&#8217;s strike was ruled out after a VAR review when he lost 2-0 to his West London neighbour on Saturday. King believed he gave Fulham a 1-0 advantage in the Derby, but umpire Rob Jones determined that his teammate Rodrigo Muniz had been fouled early in the sequence.<\/p>\n<p>Muniz was deemed to have put on Chelsea defender Trevo Charova a &#8220;careless challenge&#8221; near the center circle during the accumulation of counter attacks. Professional Match Official Limited (PGMOL) then removed Michael Salisbury from Premier League fixtures between Liverpool and Arsenal the following day, as a result of his mistake.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Salisbury served as a VAR official who encouraged him to work with Jones to investigate Muniz&#8217;s involvement. Pgmol Boss Webb contacted Fulham to provide an apology and confirmed that the goal should not be allowed as it failed to meet clear and obvious criteria for mistakes by officials.<\/p>\n<p>Rather, it should have been categorized as a &#8220;judgment.&#8221; &#8220;It was uncontroversial, it was wrong,&#8221; Webb micked the match officials. &#8220;We have established some principles in terms of how to host the Premier League and how to use the VAR. They sit at a high threshold to punish contact. It helps the flow and rhythm and tempo of the game.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have also established a high bar for intervention in var. In other words, if the situation is clearly not wrong, the call will endure if the judge calls the field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;We should only take away our goal if the evidence is very clear that that is the only thing we can do and that is the guidance we give to the authorities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fulham boss Marco Silva branded the decision &#8220;incredible,&#8221; but defender Antony Robinson posted it on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Webb continues. &#8220;In this situation, that guidance was not properly followed. Officials involved in this situation misjudged how the contact occurred between Muniz and Chalobah. Officials were very focused on the contact without looking at the full context of how it happened.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cIt happens when Muniz owns the ball, controls the ball, turns it naturally, and steps into a charoba with his feet moving into space where Fulham players have the right to put their feet in that normal way.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously, as always, we take learning. We&#8217;ll see that we can do better to minimize these. But in regards to the appeals of judges, we&#8217;ve done really well over the last 18 months or so to reduce almost all of our time in the right way.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We understand the importance of these decisions.
