Big discussion: Records have been destroyed in the left, right and center of the Premier League. All 20 clubs combine to create the most expensive summer transfer window in the history of Top Flights<\/h2>\n

If someone asks you to explain the transfer window for the summer of 2025 in one word, you won’t have enough options. Busy, appetizing, dramatic, pain – make your choice.<\/p>\n
But even a word sums it best up, especially because it’s expensive, which is the Premier League. Following a good old-fashioned, desperate deadline day, the 20 clubs totaled over \u00a33 billion, breaking previous records from 2023, at \u00a32.44 billion.<\/p>\n
TopFlight also set a record of the amounts brought about from player sales, recovering an eye-opening \u00a31.8 billion. It also became the highest net spending ever, at \u00a31.2 billion.<\/p>\n
But which clubs had the best transfer window? And who was the worst?<\/p>\n
We asked some of the mirror football writers to give their verdict for this week’s big debate.<\/p>\n

Ben’s<\/h3>\n
Best – Everton<\/p>\n
I really love what David Moet did this summer. Almost every transaction made them better with the team they had last year. Under Sean Dish they were often difficult watches, but bringing in players like Jack Grelish, Tyler Doubling and Keenan Deucebury Hall can really be exciting for neutrals.<\/p>\n
Grelish in particular was an easy summer transfer and I think it was wise to go for him. I’m looking forward to a very improved season for Toffee.<\/p>\n
Worst – Wolf<\/p>\n
He says that perhaps the best job the wolves have managed is maintaining players they signed about a month ago. If they had sold Jorgen Strand Larsen, you could safely pack the “r” next to their name and move around.<\/p>\n
Anyway, in contrast to Everton, I have a hard time choosing a position where Vittle Pereira’s team is clearly superior at the end of the window. Fer Lopez is an interesting signature. Jackson Hacho has all the traits, but it’s a summer when he couldn’t bring about Premier League experience.<\/p>\n
Honorable mention of Manchester United. Do you still have that middle part with all that money? Definitely a choice.<\/p>\n

Sammead<\/h3>\n
Best – Liverpool<\/p>\n
There have certainly been some mixed emotions over the summer due to club bosses and executives, but it’s hard to say Liverpool isn’t doing the best business. Their decision to spend as big as they have was surprising, but they now have a team that rivals something in Europe.<\/p>\n
If they emphasized their ambitions, they would cost \u00a379 million and they had decided that the striker who scored in the opening three games wasn’t enough, so they smashed the record to get ISAK. It’s a shopping experience like Florian Wiltz and Jeremy Flympong, alongside other stars.<\/p>\n
Worst – Brentford<\/p>\n
The worst window would have been Newcastle if they hadn’t had two strikers out the door late. Instead, clubs like Brentford may be wondering whether their top flight stays are now under serious threat. It would prove potentially defining that losing their two main sources of goals, especially with Joan Wissa going late in the day.<\/p>\n

Tom Victor<\/h3>\n
Best – Arsenal<\/p>\n
It’s easy to overlook them given how quickly some of their large deals went, but Arsenal had what should be considered a great window. Liverpool is a massive spender, breaking UK transfer records twice, but in favor of the tasting menu, they may want to avoid an all-you-can-eat buffet.<\/p>\n
Arsenal is working on key positions while offloading some of the players no longer needed in North London. They even got a fee for Albert Sambi Loconga!<\/p>\n
Worst – Newcastle and Fulham<\/p>\n
On the other side of the coin, the Newcastle window must be considered a failure, not just Alexander Isaac Saga. They’re overpaying for Nick Urtemaid and Joane Wissa, but they both can prove useful picks and miss out on the first and second choices that are enough to make it a meme.<\/p>\n
But in an era of bewilderment that boasts about winning the Transfer Window, Fulham’s fanbase may be the most frustrating. The slow dash for Kevin and lender Samuel Chukwugaze is better than nothing after Benjamin Recomte was the only new face for a while.<\/p>\n

Nathan Ridley<\/h3>\n
Best – Tottenham<\/p>\n
I was torn apart for half of North London to continue, but after Arsenal began the season, I’m shaking towards Tottenham. The biggest positive from the Spurs summer is the appointment of Thomas Frank.<\/p>\n
He is potentially my favorite Premier League manager. Not only are advanced tacticians, but others stand out in comparison to the vapid “head coaches” who come across as the real thing and have filled our pyramids.<\/p>\n
Frank is good at coaching solid defenses, so Tottenham didn’t have to prioritize the constantly leaking backline under Ange Post Ecogle. In the middle, I really like Joao Palhinha’s signature – Manchester United should have gone for him.<\/p>\n
Xavi Simons is such a talent, and it’s a comparative comparison of how well he and Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze have been doing this season is fascinating. Luckily, the Spurs had already signed the Premier League-administered playmaker at Mohammed Kudus, but hopes they can show what Randall Koro Muani made after a decent loan spell with Juventus.<\/p>\n

Worst – Brentford<\/p>\n
My choice for the worst window is Brentford – again because they lost Frank. Fulham is a popular pick, but I think there’s something to say to keep your team and manager together.<\/p>\n
Regardless of how much money they bring in, it will be extremely difficult to replace Brian Mbemo and Joa Wissa’s 39 league goals. So stunningly, Christian Norgaard is a huge loss, especially when Keith Andrews is able to stabilize things on and off the pitch, especially while he steps under the table, with such a character.<\/p>\n
It would probably be unwise to doubt Brentford, as they always seem to recover from losing their best players. But this was their toughest test and they were forced into a much busier summer than they had hoped for.<\/p>\n
Aaron Morris<\/h3>\n
Best – Sunderland<\/p>\n
Sunderland appears to have the best summer transfer windows that take everything into consideration. Regis Le Bliss knew that at the end of 2025\/26 the Black Cat would remain on the English top flight and that if there was a real hope that Kirill Louis Dreyfus would support his man, then a major revamp would be needed.<\/p>\n
Sunderland welcomed 14 fresh faces this summer, including the price of Enzo Le, but now there is a team that can finish off halfway through the table if the gel is ready.<\/p>\n
Worst – Fulham<\/p>\n
With the loss of Andreas Pereira and Marshall Godot, he welcomes Kevin and Benjamin Recompute forever, and Samuel Chukwogez is forever, the biggest loser is certainly Fulham. They’re also without Reiss Nelson making a big mistake.<\/p>\n

Scott Trotter<\/h3>\n
Best – Arsenal<\/p>\n
Arsenal and Liverpool have been outstanding spenders this summer. The Reds splashed at two UK record rates, offering Arneslot plenty of options, but were unable to acknowledge key areas when they were unable to secure Marc Guech’s move on the deadline. That can be expensive.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the gunners have been completely updated in depth, and now they have scorers. Things don’t exist yet, but Mikel Arteta has a team that he will allow a small number of excuses in May.<\/p>\n
Worst – Fulham<\/p>\n
Fulham acted with some intriguing additions to Kevin and Samuel Chukwaes, but certainly Marco Silva waited for progress. The former Watford and Everton bosses are cutting out his work to keep the cottage moving forward. The team is talented, but Silva revealed that he’s done more.<\/p>\n
Given his lasting link in the past, leaving the 48-year-old’s grievances feels a dangerous move.<\/p>\n
