Newcastle helped ease the blow of losing Isaac by bringing in Joan Wissa from Brentford, and when the window closed earlier than 7pm there was a “recorded number of forwarding contract sheets sent.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

But which potential signatures didn’t get past the line? And what happens now to players who don’t get the moves they might have wanted?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Mark Guech<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

It’s not often that it comes too close to making a move, before seeing it fall at the final hurdle, as Mark Guech did on the deadline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With hours remaining in the window, Crystal Palace agreed to a contract with Liverpool, a transaction sheet was submitted, and Guehi reportedly began receiving medical care.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Palace created an apparent farewell video montage, signed off with the message “Thank you Skip.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
However, the Palace was involved in Brighton defender Igor Giulio who joined West Ham, which caused the Palace to fail to sort out alternative signatures, causing Guech’s movement to collapse at the very end.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Unlike the other players in this window (Isak, Cough, Wissa, Cough), Guehi refused to force a move in the summer and played 90 minutes in all six palace games this season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Emi Martinez<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Manchester United wanted a goalkeeper on the deadline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Martinez is currently planning to stay at Aston Villa and is currently under contract until 2029 (!).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
However, the World Cup-winning goalkeeper may take some time to regain his fans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Villa manager Unai Emery was also not impressed with Martinez’s actions after his defeat at Crystal Palace on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“We need players who are focused. 100%. He wasn’t. It’s not helping us.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Raheem Sterling<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n
\n
But among them, Raheem Sterling remains at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Signed on a five-year deal in 2022, Sterling struggled to impress regularly at Chelsea, joining Arsenal last summer on an 11-hour loan agreement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
This time he was linked to Fulham, but the movement never came to fruition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Sterling remains in Limbo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With only 30 people still, Sterling, reportedly known as Chelsea’s best-earning player, was told last summer by head coach Enzo Maresca that he wasn’t part of his plan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
He hasn’t been featured with the club so far this season and his stance hasn’t changed as he trains away from the first team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Ademola Lookman<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

It was a summer of player power, and Ademalal Lookman joined Isaac and Wissa by clarifying his desire to leave Club Atalanta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Lookman submitted a transfer request, saying Atalanta would “block” his opportunity to leave the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Inter saw Lookman reject two bids, but it seemed likely that Bayern Munich and Tottenham could get a move on the deadline day with interest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But the deal wasn’t over, and Lookman will now either stay in Atalanta, where he was a key player with many goals and support in recent seasons, or move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia, where the windows are still open.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Joe Gomez<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

The move to AC Milan seemed close to Joe Gomez on the deadline day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The report alleges that the agreement has been in place and Gomez gave the green light to move from Liverpool.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
However, the deal was not over as time ran out and Liverpool didn’t seal Guehi’s move.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Gomez may not be the worst for Liverpool, as he was praised by manager Arne Slot for his “outstanding” display against Arsenal just 24 hours ago.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dik has also expressed his desire for his centre-back partner to remain at Anfield.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\n
“Of course I want him to stay as a friend and as a player.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
