Alan Shearer claims Manchester United is “a million miles” away from where they need them — but they are now committed to supporting Reuben Amorim. The 10-month rocky Old Trafford tenure in Portuguese leaned over to her new minimum on Wednesday night as United was dumped from the Carabao Cup in a penalty by League 2 Grimsby.<\/p>\n
Betfair Ambassador Shearer believes it is difficult to establish whether there is light at the end of the tunnel.<\/p>\n
“They have already spent absolute fortune this summer, but they still need to spend. We need to wait, whether they can get what they want in this window, whether they have to wait, but I think it’s really difficult.<\/p>\n

“There’s a pack that we saw what the top four or five people spent and then chased. Maybe Man United Might and I are, but even so, they’ll find it difficult to get close to the top five this season.<\/p>\n
The position of goalkeeper Andre Onana has become unacceptable, but Shearer feels that Amorim needs to revive Captain Bruno Fernandez’s form.<\/p>\n
United have made a big push to keep it worth around \u00a3200 million over three years to keep it at 30 years, which was the subject of an offer to be seen by Al Hilal on the pro league side of Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.<\/p>\n
Fernandez had chosen to put, then saw the shadow of his previous self in a deeper midfield role. Shearer continued: “I don’t know where Man United is without him.<\/p>\n

“Without him last season, they might not even be in the Premier League. He was their best player, but obviously he doesn’t see him as a sitting midfielder.<\/p>\n
“Maybe Amorim is seeing everything I see and something different from what everyone else sees. He’s a little more free and best, but they brought (Masteus) Cunha to play the role. They have to find Bruno’s position.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs for his penalty, no one criticizes me for missing 12 yards either.<\/p>\n
