M\u00f6nchengladbach, Germany (AP) – Borussias is switching over, attacking US midfielder Gio Reyna.<\/p>\n

Reina, 22, joined Bundesliga rival Borussia Menchenradbach on Saturday and signed a contract with his new club by June 2028.<\/p>\n

“We’ve been watching him for a while and I’m sure he has the qualities he needs to help us on the pitch,” said Roland Wilkas, Gladbach’s sports director. “He’s well-versed in the Bundesliga and can play in a variety of positions on offense.”<\/p>\n

Reina, who joined Dortmund from New York City FC in 2019, had only one year left on the contract, and she didn’t really understand it in Nico Kobachicho’s plans. <\/p>\n

Reina was previously considered one of the club’s most promising players, but she had to see that his No. 7 jersey was assigned to summer arrival Job Bellingham this summer.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the son of former US Captain Claudio Reina and American midfielder Daniel Egan and American midfielder Daniel Egan became the youngest American to make their Bundesliga debut. Overall, he scored 15 goals in Dortmund’s 106 Bundesliga appearances, but was almost disappointed in the half season on loan at Nottingham Forest in 2024.<\/p>\n

“Borusia is a fantastic and big club,” Reina was quoted as saying on his new side. “The transfer has been completed and I look forward to getting to know everyone here and working together on the upcoming games.”<\/p>\n

Serie A Team Parma also reportedly had an interest in signing Reina, who has eight goals in 32 games in the US.<\/p>\n
