Real Salt Lake has acquired the US national team for many years just behind Deandre Yedlin in trade with FC Cincinnati. <\/p>\n
Cincinnati received a general allocation of $304,700 in the deal announced Thursday. <\/p>\n
The 32-year-old defender is a three-time Major League Soccer All-Star. He came to Cincinnati on trade with Intermiami in March 2024 and played in 67 games in all competitions with goals and eight assists. <\/p>\n
Yedlin’s career began with the Seattle Sounders before heading to Europe in 2013, spending time with Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Newcastle and Galata Salei. He returned to the US in 2022 to play for Miami. <\/p>\n
“Beyond his skills on the field, his leadership and professionalism will help strengthen our locker room and set the tone,” RSL chief football officer Kurt Schmid said in a statement. “We believe Deandre’s impact will be felt soon, and we are excited about the role he will play in driving our success in the future.”<\/p>\n
Eidlin thanked Cincinnati fans Social media posts.<\/span><\/p>\n“On the pitch, I was pushed and inspired in a way that made me better. From the pitch, I have made a lasting friendship and connection past football, and I am grateful for that,” he writes. “It’s never easy to say goodbye, but that’s the game. What I carry with me is the feeling that it’s a part of memories, support and something bigger.”<\/p>\n
Seattle native Yedlin played 81 games against the US national team and was with the 2014 and 2022 World Cup teams. <\/p>\n
Real Salt Lake will be 10th in the Western Conference, just below the playoffline, 9-13-4 this season. <\/p>\n
